    That’s your lot folks

An enjoyable cup final went the way many expected, but United fought hard to give City a game of it but ultimately came up short.

United will seek to add players in the coming transfer window but a lot will depend on what happens regarding their potential takeover. Until next time, that’s goodbye from Al Jazeera.

    City dominated the ball

They had 61 percent possession, which is perhaps not surprising for a Guardiola team.

Even when chasing the game, the Red Devils found it hard to get on the ball.

Gundogan gives nothing away on future

He tells the BBC, “This group deserves it. I think we played really well, especially the second half was amazing.”

On his first goal: “We aim for that, to go long to Erling and try to get the second ball and attack quick. It was quite a good strike and it went in.”

On his future: “I don’t need these kind of days to feel appreciated and special at this club. Nothing is decided yet, so we’re going to see what will happen.”

    Better team won

There was no lack of effort from ten Hag’s side, with his motivational speech at Old Trafford still ringing in their ears perhaps.

They were beaten by the better side today though, and will hope Inter can stop City from matching their 1999 treble achievement.

Full-time: Man City 2-1 Man United

City win the FA Cup and get the second part of the treble they seek! Pep Guardiola’s team were much better in both halves, and it took a questionable penalty to get United into this contest.

Goals from Gundogan either side of the break were enough for the team in sky blue, with Fernandes dispatching a penalty for his team in the first half. All eyes are on Istanbul next weekend as they aim to be the second team in English football history to win those famous three trophies.

    Halaand wins corner and celebrates

Haaland runs the ball into the corner and smashes it off a United defender for a corner. It’s as though he scored, the way he punches the air, and that might just be it.

The 18-year-old has looked United’s best player in this half, once again running past some men in blue and unlucky not to get a corner out of it in the end.

    Goal disallowed

It looked like Gundogan had just scored an FA Cup final hat trick, but the assistant correctly flagged him offside.

Grealish had found Haaland, whose shot was saved by De Gea. The fall ball fell to Gundogan, who put it in the net – but he was a couple of yards offside.
