It’s a wrap
Jamaica rose to the occasion to see off a sizable Brazilian threat.
They managed to get through the group stage without conceding a goal.
Brazil’s run comes to an early close and marks an end to one of the most legendary careers in the women’s game.
France hold on to the top spot after their 6-3 result against Panama, while Jamaica take second place.
Their opponents will be settled on Thursday as Colombia, Germany and Morocco duke it out for the top two seeds in Group H.

‘We couldn’t break down the defending’
Brazil coach Pia Sundhage summed up her thoughts on the team’s performance: “First of all, we needed to create more chances and use the width better. We also have to put away the chances as well.
“They played well and they fought well. We couldn’t break down the defending,” she said.
“We do have high expectations. We started off the World Cup pretty well. We just have to face the result.”

The opportunity is from about 20 metres out just right of centre.
Debinha is responsible for taking it, and fires in a shot at the near post.
Spencer is able to move well to her left to stop the incoming threat.
Meanwhile, we will have four additional minutes of stoppage time.

As we near stoppage time, Brazilian fans look absolutely disconsolate at the notion they may be soon out of this World Cup.
Jamaica have been terrific in keeping their attacking threat to a minimum, but there is still time for a last-gasp winner.

This is without doubt their best opportunity so far.
Shaw storms in towards the box despite being harried by defenders.
She powers a shot at net, but the resulting effort ends up going skywards.
If it had gone in, it would have effectively ended Brazil’s World Cup hopes.
