    Goodbye for now

That’s it from our live coverage of Bayern Munich against Real Madrid in the Champions League semifinal.

The first leg ends in a 2-2 draw after a competitive display from both.

Real stunned their hosts with Vinicius Junior’s slot home on the counter.

Bayern looked as though they could swamp the away team when they stormed back with goals from Leroy Sane and Harry Kane.

Vinicius Junior’s leveller from the spot sends the tie to Madrid evenly poised.

We’ll be back on Wednesday with more live action from the Champions League as Borussia Dortmund take on Paris Saint-Germain.

For now, though – from me, Kevin Hand – it’s goodbye.

    It finishes all square ⚖️

All to play for still in Madrid 🙏

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti reacts to the draw

“It was an interesting game, we can play better,” Ancelotti told TNT Sports. “We played too deep in the low block in the first half but we played a lot better in the second half.

“We were comfortable with the low block but we didn’t put enough intensity there. When you have a low block, you have to win duals and tackles.

“The game was difficult when we were 2-1 down but then I think we had the character to do it.”

A Tottenham throwback for Madrid and Bayern

Harry Kane and Luka Modric were a formidable part of Tottenham’s spine under the new Chelsea boss, Mauricio Pochettino.

The pair helped the Spurs to the 2019 Champions League final where they lost to Liverpool.

Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane gives his reaction to the draw

“A little disappointing not to take the chances, not to go two or three ahead,” Kane told TNT Sports.

“They are Real Madrid and a tough opponent. We have a lot to take away for next week.

“We came out with a higher intensity in the second half but it’s just a shame not to have scored more.

“It’s been a good season so far, but it’s about the next game and the next one is away to Madrid.

“Everything we are fighting for now, this season, is in this competition. The expectation is to win trophies and it didn’t go our way in the league or cup but the Champions League is the biggest of all.

“The atmosphere was incredible and I’m sure it will be the same in Madrid. It will be tough but we can take a lot from this game and take positivity into next week.”

Vinicius Junior must be close to the Player of the Match award

Real’s Brazilian forward was a constant threat on the counter.

He was also an outlet for the Spaniards when the Munich pressure built and he scored both of Madrid’s goals.

Madrid levelled the tie and the stats

The possession was shaded 52-48 by Bayern, who had 14 shots with five on target.

Madrid, who barely troubled the stats for the majority of the first half but for their goal, ended with 10 shots and four on target.

Bayern line up for their fans

The atmosphere was incredible at the Allianz Stadium, and it’ll be much the same in the second leg in Spain.

The Bayern players applaud their fans in a line in front of the home end.

If the second game is as good as this one, then a Champions League classic could be on the cards.
