    Abhishek Sharma flies away

The young Indian opener has taken off with the first spot in the run-scoring table. Farhan climbs to second, with his 13 in the opening innings of this match, but it will be scant consolation if Pakistan lose this game. Saif’s 18 in the chase means he finishes on 178 runs for the tournament.

    Salman Ali Agha’s post-match thoughts

“If you can win these kind of games then we must be a special type of team,” the Pakistan captain said.

“When it comes to bowling and fielding it was outstanding. Everyone chipped in, and the way Shaheen bowled up front, and Haris, it is outstanding.

“We are a team who are finding a way to win to get to the final. There is improvement we need to do when it comes to the batting and we will do better in the final.

“[Mohamed Haris] is a special player. He is not batting on his number, he is batting down the order, but he never moans. He always says whatever the team needs, he will do it, and he is contributing every game, and I am very happy for him.

“We were 15 runs short, there is no way I will deny that, but I knew if we bowled like that up front, then we will create pressure.

“In games like this, when it is almost a semifinal, when you create pressure up front it is hard to chase it down. We bowled really well with the new ball, and once you bowl like this with the new ball, it is more often going to win you games.

“We have been fielding really well, everyone is working hard and having extra sessions. When Mike [Henson] came as coach he said: ‘whoever can’t field won’t be in the team’.

“Everyone knows if they can’t field, they won’t be in the team. I’m very happy with how we have been fielding for three months.

“We know what we need to do [in the final against India]. We are very excited, and we are good enough to beat anyone – we will come on Sunday and try to beat them.”

    Jaker Ali’s post-match thoughts

“As a batting unit, last two matches, we lose. The bowlers are doing well as a unit, but against India the batting lost it and same again today,” the Bangladesh captain said.

“Our bowlers, Rishad and Saif, impressed and Saif batted well throughout the tournament, but we didn’t support him.”

Shaheen is Player of the Match

“I dedicate this to my beautiful wife and son. Early on, we need a breakthrough, and I go for that,” Shaheen said.

“In short totals, you need earlier breakthroughs, and the three wickets in the power play was the difference.

“When you lose early wickets, the team decide that I go and take on the bowlers. Those sixes swung the momentum.”

On Sunday, Shaheen added: “We are ready.”

The seamer hit 19 off 13 with the bat and took 3-17 with the ball.

    A thought for Bangladesh

It was another swing, at a length ball outside off, to finish by Rishad. Rauf really delivered in his final two overs. Bangladesh pushed Pakistan hard and looked well set to upset the fancied final, but India against Pakistan, it will be.
