    ‘Luck wasn’t on our side’

Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong has been speaking with UEFA after the match:

“We played a very good match. We gave it our all. I have the feeling that luck wasn’t on our side. I think we’re growing, and that we have a young, talented team that can compete for everything. We’re going to keep going like this.”

    ‘It was a rollercoaster’

Atleti goalscorer Ademola Lookman has been speaking with TNT Sports. Here is what he said:

“It was a rollercoaster, with us going 2-0 down, and then it was a game of two halves, really. We stuck in there, and we got through to the semis.”

On the impact that Lopez’s injury had on the game: “As the game is going on, you are playing and the momentum changes and moments happen and then the pause [for the injury] – it kind of switched us back into gear, and we were able to create a few chances, and we got the goal, and we tried to continue in that way in the second half.”

    PSG ease past Liverpool

The defending champions are into the final four after winning 2-0 at Anfield to knock Liverpool out.

PSG led 2-0 after the first leg, and had to ride out a spell of Liverpool pressure in the second half.

The Reds were awarded a penalty after Alexis Mac Allister went down in the box, but the referee changed his decision after reviewing the pitch-side monitor.

Ousmane Dembele broke the deadlock after 72 minutes, and he capped off a strong performance with a second goal in stoppage time.

    A return to the semifinals

Atletico’s victory books them a spot in the last four of the Champions League for the first time since 2017.

Back then, they faced city rivals Real Madrid and lost 4-2 on aggregate.

This time around, they will face either Arsenal or Sporting. The Gunners lead 1-0 after the first leg of that tie, and the teams will meet again at Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening.
