Goodbye for now
That’s it from our live coverage of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Sudan and Ghana.
The shock 2-0 win for Sudan leaves Ghana on the brink in their hopes of reaching the 2025 edition of the continental competition.
It cranks up the pressure on Ghana manager Otto Addo ahead of the remaining two qualifiers in November. A story to watch for sure.
For now, though – from me, Kevin Hand – it’s goodbye.

CAF remain tight-lipped on Libya vs Nigeria
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has just released the following statement after Nigeria flew home from Libya on Monday: “The TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 Qualifier fixture between Libya and Nigeria will not take place as scheduled tonight. The matter will be referred to the competent CAF bodies.”

Ghana’s next fixtures
Ghana travel to Angola on November 11 before finishing their qualifying campaign at home against Niger on November 19.
A win for Angola this evening will put them out of reach of Ghana, for whom only two wins will do if they are to overturn Sudan now.
Sudan would need to lose both of their matches – in Niger and at home against Angola – if Ghana are to have a chance.

Over to Angola
Angola kick off soon in Niger, where they will hope to reaffirm their position as favourites for Group F.
The southern African nation top the group with three wins from three and will be heavy favourites to do the double over Niger in this latest encounter.
Sudan have seven points from four games now, while Ghana have two points from four. Is there any way back for the Black Stars now?

The game in statistics
Ghana had a 57.3 percent share of the ball but only seven shots and one on target compared with Sudan’s 11 and five. It’s hard to argue against the result.

Oh no, Otto
Ghana manager Otto Addo admitted before the game that this was a must-win. Pressure was already growing on him. A change may be coming in Ghana after a crushing defeat for the nation’s AFCON hopes.

This page is now closed. Thanks for joining us. These were the updates as Sudan beat Ghana 2-0 in the AFCON 2025 qualifiers on Tuesday, October 15:
- Sudan beat Ghana 2-0 in their Confederation of African Football (CAF) Africa Cup of Nations 2025 qualifier in Group F.
- The match, which Sudan hosted in Libya at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Benina, saw Ahmed Al Tash and Mohamed Abdelrahman score quick-fire second-half goals to settle the match and increase pressure on Black Stars manager Otto Addo.
- The teams shared a 0-0 draw in the reverse fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium in Ghana on Thursday and the Ghanaians are now winless after four matches with only two points to their name.
- The war in Sudan means the national team must host their matches outside the country. Sudan have now won two, drawn one and lost one of their four matches in the group and sit second behind Angola, who have won three from three.
- Nigeria returned home from Libya on Monday after refusing to play their Group D qualifier against the North Africans after they were held for more than 20 hours at a deserted Libya airport.
