This page is now closed. Thanks for joining us. These were the updates as Saudi Arabia drew 1-1 with Indonesia in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) qualifiers on Thursday, September 5:

  • Saudi Arabia draw 1-1 with Indonesia in Group C of the AFC qualifiers for the FIFA 2026 World Cup.
  • Ragnar Oratmangoen gave Indonesia the lead in the 19th minute before Musab Al-Juwayr equalised just before half-time in the match played at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
  • Saudi Arabia are targeting a third consecutive appearance, and seventh overall, at a World Cup.
  • Indonesia are the only Southeast Asian side still standing in the qualifiers but have yet to appear at a World Cup.
  • The top two teams from each of the three groups qualify automatically for the World Cup, which is being staged in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

    Focus shifts to Portugal vs Croatia

    The focus now shifts to Portugal vs Croatia in the UEFA Nations League.

    The teams are facing off in a League A Group 1 match in Lisbon, where Portugal are leading 2-1 with only 10 minutes remaining.

    Follow Al Jazeera’s live coverage of the match, which saw Cristiano Ronaldo score his 900th career goal.

    United Arab Emirates lead Group A

    The UAE are on top of Group A with three points, sitting above Iran and Uzbekistan, due to goal difference.

    North Korea and the Kyrgyz Republic are joint third with zero points while Qatar are at bottom with the same score.

    Iraq take top spot in Group B

    Iraq lead the standings in Group B with three points. Jordan and Kuwait are joint second, while South Korea and Palestine are joint third.

    Oman are bottom with zero points.

    Saudi Arabia and Indonesia sit joint third in Group C

    Japan lead the standings in Group C with three points, above second-placed Bahrain due to goal difference.

    Saudi Arabia and Indonesia have a point each and are tied for third.

    Australia and China occupy the bottom two spots after suffering defeats.

    Kuwait fight back for a draw against Jordan

    It ended all square in Amman where Yousef Nasser scored a stoppage-time penalty to guide Kuwait to a 1-1 draw with Jordan.

    Incredible result for Indonesia

    It is only the second time that Indonesia have held Saudi Arabia to a draw in their 13 meetings.

    The last time Indonesia drew against Saudi Arabia was in October 2011 when they played out a goalless draw in a friendly.

    Full time: Saudi Arabia 1-1 Indonesia

    Saudi Arabia are held to a 1-1 draw at home by Indonesia.

    Oratmangoen put Indonesia in the lead in the 19th minute before Al-Juwayr found the equaliser just a few minutes before half-time.

    The Green Falcons had a golden opportunity to seal the match in the 79th minute when they were awarded a penalty after a silly mistake from Indonesia goalkeeper Paes, but key player Al-Dawsari failed to score from the spot.

    The hosts dominated possession (65.8 percent) and were threatening in attack, registering a whopping 18 shots. However, only four were on target.

    Visitors Indonesia fought hard, recording seven attempts, with two on target.

    The Saudi Arabia substitute misses a big opportunity to score from inside the box while he was one-on-one with goalkeeper Paes, who came off his line to block the shot.

    Al-Brikan was set up in the box with a clever through-ball from Abdulhamid.

    Paes initially made a silly error to cheaply give away the spot kick, but recovered within minutes to rescue his side.
