Goodbye for now
That’s it for now from our live coverage of the Champions Trophy.
Do join us on Sunday for more cricket as we bring you the blockbuster between Pakistan and India in Dubai.
It’s a must-win for the hosts, while the favourites, India, can make a huge statement if they make it two-from-two – and against the side most tipped to stop them from lifting the Champions Trophy.
It’s a rerun of the 2017 final and promises to be better.
There’s boxing and football to come before that – and our usual news coverage on Al Jazeera Sport – so stay tuned for plenty more action.
For now, though – from me, Kevin Hand, and on behalf of my colleague, Adam Hancock- it’s goodbye.

‘We were under pressure a bit’
We’ve also just heard from victorious India skipper Rohit Sharma. He was asked how he felt as the chase wore on:
“As the game goes on there are different emotions, but you have got to be ready for everything that is thrown at you,” he said.
“With the bat, yes we were under pressure a bit, but when you are playing a game like this you are bound to be under pressure,” he explained.
He was also quizzed about the Dubai pitch.
“It’s very hard to make anything out of the track, but we knew there is not enough grass on the pitch and it is going to be on the slow side and that is exactly how the pitch played,” said Sharma.

‘It cost us the game’
Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto has been reflecting on the six-wicket defeat that his side suffered in Dubai this evening.
He pointed to the start of the Bangladesh innings when wickets tumbled in quick succession.
“In 10 overs, we lost five wickets, it’s very hard to recover and so it cost us the game,” he explained.
Shanto was also critical of his team’s effort in the field.
“We made some mistakes on the field, a couple of dropped catches and a few run outs. If we could take those catches, it could be different,” he said.

Gill awarded Player of the Match prize
The Indian opener has described his century as one of the most satisfying innings he has played.
His 101* off 129 balls was the anchor that held India’s chase together. But it wasn’t all smooth sailing.
“At one point there was a bit of pressure on us,” said Gill. “The message was sent from outside that I had to try and bat till the end.”
Well he certainly knows how to follow orders…

Gill guides India home
The Indian opener was at the crease from start to finish as he marshalled the chase superbly.
He joined in with some big hitting during that India onslaught in the first 10 overs of the innings, before digging in when things got trickier in the middle overs.
He’s a batsman in fine form and he showed his quality in Dubai tonight.
