Goodbye for now!
That’s it for our live coverage of Indonesia v Japan in World Cup qualifying.
The Blue Samurai were worthy winners as they continue their seemingly unstoppable march towards the US, Canada and Mexico.
As for Indonesia, well, they have plenty of work to do to book their spot at the 2026 fiesta of football.
I’ll be back tomorrow with live coverage of Australia’s second T20I against Pakistan in Sydney. But for now, from Adam Hancock and Kevin Hand, goodbye!

What’s next for Japan and Indonesia?
Both of these teams will be back in action next week, as World Cup qualifying continues.
Japan will travel to Xiamen to face China on Tuesday. That game will kickoff at 12:00 GMT.
As for Indonesia, well they will be back at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on Tuesday as they face a crucial game against Saudi Arabia.
The Green Falcons are just three points ahead of Indonesia, so there will be plenty to play for in Jakarta.
Al Jazeera Sport will bring you live coverage of that one, with the game kicking off at 12:00 GMT.

A feast of sporting action
Away from the football and we are keeping track of some other sporting fixtures over the next few days.
My colleague Hafsa is looking after our live coverage of the fourth and final T20I between India and South Africa in Johannesburg. That one gets under way at 15:00 GMT and you can follow all of the action here.
And tomorrow, Mike Tyson returns to the ring for a celebrity boxing bout with Jake Paul.
We’ll have live coverage of the fight, with ring walks set to begin at 01:00 GMT.
You can read an excellent preview of that one here.

+18 goal difference for Japan
7-0, 5-0, 4-0, 2-0 (and 1-1).
Japan have been sensational in World Cup qualification round three.
Nineteen goals scored and just one conceded. I think it’s a case of when, not if, they seal their spot at USA, Mexico, Canada 2026.

Indonesia remain rock bottom
There was a bit of optimism from some Indonesia fans ahead of this clash, with Team Garuda picking up some decent draws in this third stage of World Cup qualification.
But those hopes were dashed by a clinical Japanese team who demonstrated the gulf in quality between Indonesia and the top Asian teams.
Despite sitting sixth in Group C, Indonesia are far from out of the race to World Cup 2026.
They are only three points behind fourth-placed China. Remember, third- and fourth-placed teams will remain in the hunt for qualification.

Japan looking four-midable
Another four goals for Japan in World Cup qualifying, taking them to 18 goals from just five games.
After a tricky opening 30 minutes in Jakarta, Japan showed their quality and carved Indonesia open.
The Blue Samurai were aided by some defensive howlers from the home team, with Indonesia also missing some decent opportunities.
But Japan had more than enough to get the job done and look set to ensure automatic qualification to the 2026 World Cup.

That’s it.
Japan have wrapped up a brilliant 4-0 victory in Jakarta. They are storming towards World Cup qualification.
Indonesia have plenty of work to do.

The Blue Samurai seek a fifth
Japan are laying siege to Indonesia’s goal, winning a series of corners and hitting efforts from numerous different angles.
Team Garuda are hanging on as they look to keep the scoreline at four.

Fans heading home
The Gelora Bung Karno Stadium is starting to empty as the game heads towards stoppage time.
Given the notorious Jakarta traffic, it’s probably not a bad idea.
On the pitch, Japan continue to look dangerous as Ito flashes a low cross across the face of the goal.

The heat takes its toll
Hubner is struggling with what looks to be some cramp as we enter the final few minutes of this World Cup qualifier.
Despite the rain, it’s still a hot and humid evening in Jakarta.
It’s especially testing for the many Indonesian players who spend most of the year competing in European leagues.

Ohashi caught offside
A ball over the top allows Ohashi to break away, but he can’t beat Paes in a one-on-one.
Fortunately for the Japanese debutant, the flag had been raised for offside (although it looked pretty tight on the replay).

Arhan fluffs his lines
A big chance for Arhan to pull back a consolation goal for Indonesia.
Some great work from Oratmangoen sets him up in the box, and he tries to place an effort into the corner of the goal. But his effort is not well struck, and Suzuki makes a comfortable save.

Indonesia struggling to stop Japan
Japan are in again, and another substitute – Ito – tries to get on the scoresheet.
He’s unable to get an effort away, thanks to some heroic last-ditch defending.
This could get even more ugly for the home team.

GOAL! The sub Sugawara scores!
It’s getting worse for Indonesia..
Shocking defending from Team Garuda as Sugawara is allowed to run into the box unmarked.
No defenders come out to challenge him, so he decides to fire a shot from a very tight angle.
Paes should do better at his near post, but it’s a well-struck effort from the Blue Samurai full back.

Long throws launched in
Indonesia sub Pratama Arhan has a remarkable long throw.
It’s certainly lifted the crowd with a huge roar every time Indonesia has a throw-in.
Japan have dealt with the test so far, but it’s certainly a challenge for the defenders.
